When is the best age to undergo a hair transplant?

Balding or a receding hairline can affect people at any age. From the age of 18 until you are 50 years old, men tend to lose significant hair every year. Male pattern baldness usually results from hormonal changes and genetic predisposition.A hair transplant is a solution to fill up those balding spots. Since the hair follicles extracted from the back of your head are generally permanent, hair follicles can be transplanted anywhere else on the scalp or the body, and the results will be permanent. When it comes to the best time to do a hair transplant always depends on the situation of every person. However, the most common age for male hair transplant patients is 35-49.  It is essential to note this does not mean this age range is the best time for a person to get a hair transplant. Many men start to show signs of hair loss in their early 20s, while some men do not experience any hair loss before age 40. The generally accepted age limit for aesthetic procedures is 18; however, in our clinic, we start doing transplants at 24-25. At this age, you haven’t lost most of your hair; we recommend waiting for a little longer so you don’t have to do another surgery in the next 5-10 years.  As you get older, hair loss will grow with you. What you need to do to understand is that you can’t be too young or too old to undergo this procedure.  Again, there is no specific age limit for hair transplant operations. The most important factor for hair transplantation is if the hair loss continues. But it progresses very slowly compared to previous years.  Thanks to the new non-invasive FUE techniques, a hair transplant can be done at any age as long as the patient donor area is in good condition.
