Is Micro-pigmentation a hair restoration treatment?

Scalp micro pigmentation is a cosmetic treatment for men and women designed to treat the signs of hair loss, thinning hair, alopecia, transplant scarring, and hairline recession. It’s sometimes called a hair tattoo. A provider uses thin, small needles to deposit tiny dots of pigment (color) on the scalp, giving the illusion of thicker, healthier hair. Micropigmentation is performed using an electric tattoo device because more power is needed to penetrate the skin on your scalp. This is a non-invasive, non-surgical hair loss treatment. This dots style is referred to as pointillism and can be used to extend your hairline, giving the appearance of thicker hair, or camouflage scars to give the illusion of hair growth and create natural-looking depth and definition. Scalp micro pigmentation pigments are cosmetic-grade, semi-permanent inks.

While the effects may last up to eight years, Micropigmentation is considered semi-permanent. The treated area can fade or change its color over time since all skin naturally exfoliates itself, especially if you suffer from dry skin.

Does it help hair loss?

Scalp micro pigmentation It’s not a hair loss treatment. It won't stimulate your hair to grow or change your natural hair growth. It’s only a way to make it look like you have fuller, thicker hair.

What's the healing time?

Since there’s no surgery or anesthesia, you can go back to daily life activities quickly. There's no real recovery time required after hair micro pigmentation. There are very few side effects. For example, your head may feel slightly sensitive or you may notice some redness that lasts several days but you can return to most regular activities, including work, right away.
